SCHEDULE

PEF headquarters are getting an increasing number of calls about when PEF members will see their new money.  We’ve put the information out in various updates, but here it is again, just for easy reference:

Institution Payroll

April 28 for 2.75% Increase, Increments, and Longevity Awards (Longevity in a separate check delivered on this date)

Administration Payroll

April 20 Longevity Awards (Longevity in a separate check delivered on this date)

May 4 2.75% increase and Increments

We also get questions about the delay in payment dates (for example: “The contract says I get a raise in April.  Why do I not get the money until May?”

 Two answers.

  1. State Finance Law requires that any salary adjustment that is contractually required to be implemented on a specific date (e.g., April 1) will actually take effect on the first day of the pay period nearest to the specified date.  Since the Admin and Institution cycles are different the effective payment dates are different.
  2. The lag payroll further delays payment.  For example, for the Administration Payroll, the 2.75% raise is effective 4/7/05.  The last day of that pay period is April 20, and the paycheck for that time period (because of the lag) is issued two weeks after the close of the pay period (in this case May 4).

If you encounter people with more technical questions, please contact Contract Administration.
